It lies along the ridge between the Val di Chiana and the Val d'Ambra, at the junction of numerous roads once used for goods transport, especially the wheat produced in the Valdichiana. Its historic centre, which is a characteristic example of feudal architecture, still preserves the ruins of the tower and the circle of walls. Noteworthy is the national sculpture exhibition "Soggettivamente", a biennial event which alternates with the Premio di Pittura .
