Pré-Saint-Didier

Description

The town's name means "meadow of San Desire," perhaps in honor of the bishop of Lyons, Didier, or the bishop of Langres, Desire.
It is a resort of international fame, situated in a green valley at the confluence of the Dora Verney, at 1000 meters of altitude, near the valleys of Valdigne and the Orrido (an extremely narrow and picturesque gorge formed by the waters of the Dora) and the resorts of Courmayeur and La Thuile.
Pré-Saint-Didier opens the Piccolo San Bernardo Valley and is situated along the ancient Roman road that led to the Gallia. From each corner of the town it is possible to enjoy a fabulous view over the Mont Blanc massif and is a good departure point for various hiking trails. The town is famous for its thermal waters with its natural sources, where the creek Verney flows into the Dora Baltea, through a spring in a cave, located behind the Horror, at a temperature between 22 and 36 degrees centigrade.
The healing, relaxing anti-rheumatic and tonic water were already known in Roman times. Their use, however, began only in the XIX and early XX century.

Not to miss:

The spa, which, although recently renovated and expanded, have preserved the original structure of the XIX century. The spa covers n area of 500 square meters and is built in wood and natural stone. Its features swimming pools, turkish baths, saunas, massage parlors and various natural beauty treatments.
