Retorbido
Description
Retorbido is a small town Oltrepò Pavese, at the outlet in the valley floor Staffora. It has ancient origins, having been already mentioned in a document written by Tito Livio with the name "Litubium. In 972 it was part of the possessions of the Monastery of San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro in Pavia and in 1164 it was ruled directly by the city of Pavia, becoming also home to Podestà. It then became a fief and was ceded to the Beccaria and the Courts of Pavia, that ruled here until the abolition of feudalism.
Among the sites of interest, not to miss:
- The remains of an ancient Castle in the village of Muriasco;
- The hot springs known as "sources of Retorbido";
- The Parish Church of the seventeenth century;
- Palazzo Pallavicini, in Neo-classical style.
