San Vincenzo

Description

San Vincenzo is a small town in the province of Livorno, on the Etruscan coast, on the border with the Grosseto’s maremma.
The area was inhabited since the Paleolithic Age, but the first documents dated back to 1285, when the village was called Torre di San Vincenzo, deriving from the name of a tower built by the Pisans in order to defend the locals against the Saracens.
In 1406, after the downfall of Pisa, San Vincenzo passed to the city of Florence.
We suggest a visit to the XIX century Church of San Vincenzo Ferreri, the San Vincenzo Tower, the Torre Vecchia (Old Tower) and the Rimigliano Natural Park.
