Stromboli

Description

Stromboli, where according to the legend there was the palace of God Aeolus, is the northermost Island of the Aeolian archipelago. It is a hamlet of the town of Lipari and it is dominated by the impressive outline of the volcano, whose eruptive activity is not dangerous for the inhabitants. It is characterized by high coast and very small beaches and the main villages are Stromboli and Ginostra.
At the beginning of the XX century he number of its inhabitant decreased because of emigration; in 1949 Stromboli gained a new popularity thank to the movie "Stromboli", directed by Roberto Rossellini and played by his lover Ingrid Bergman.
