Zambrone
Description
A famous beach resort on the Costa degli Dei, in the province of Vibo Valentia, Zambrone perches on an outcrop over the Gulf of St. Euphemia, in a superb panoramic location. A Medieval town, surrounded by fragrant citrus groves and features stunning white beaches interspersed with rocks and reefs, onto which break the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. For the local historians, the first settlement was founded around year 1300 by a group of inhabitants of the nearby Aramoni , after Robert of Anjou ordered to burn their homes.
Sites of Interest:
- the picturesque old town center and the beautiful surrounding scenery;
- the Church of St. Charles Borromeo;
- the Amphitheater, today seat of important cultural events;
- a small tomb dating to the VI century A.D.
