Montemesola

Description

The name of this area comes from Latin Montis-mensulae that means shelf of the mountain and it recalls the image of this town: as it is placed on this shelf with a more or less round shape.
It is a small town that lies at 180 metres above sea level. Montemensola, like most of the towns of the Murge Tarantine, is built over a cleft.
The most famous buildings are the "Marchesale" Palace, the Clock Tower and the Church of Saint Michele Arcangelo.
To keep in mind the special event, which takes place each year on the first Sunday of August: The Moustache Festival, an on stage contest organized to prize the different styles of different men's moustaches.
