Mirabella Imbaccari

Mirabella Imbaccari, set at the foot of the Erei Mounts, was founde din 1610 by Giuseppe Maria Paternò, landlord of Raddusa, in honour of his wife, lady Eleonora Mirabella. The fief was transferred on the Imbaccari hill in order to escape the pestilence. Then it passed under the control of the Trigona family and to the princes of Biscari.
The most important monument of the town are the Palazzo Biscari, built by Giacinto Paternò in 1630, quite totally destroyed by the earthquake of 1693 and refurbished during the XVIII century, and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, with a Baroque style façade distributed on three orders, with a false loggia above.
